Description: This is an 7 day professional learning series for newly hired ICT teachers, ICT Teacher Teams that want a refresher course, principals and assistant principals.
Participants should attend all sessions.
In this cohort participants will explore the various ICT models, including the advantages and disadvantages of each model. Activities are designed to enhance skills in Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) in addition to connecting the models to the Danielson Framework. Participants will delve deeper into using Assessment, Questioning, etc. to plan for alternative teaching, parallel teaching, station teaching etc.

The Professional Development is an 3 day series, where all participants will have a hands-on opportunity in creating appropriate, and collaborative structures when working with their School Implementation Team to ensure appropriate services for all SWD’s. 4 Day Special Education Institute – Special Education 101 for Teachers

Description: This 4 day workshop series will engage teachers in activities around understanding the special needs learner. Introduction/refresher on 1975 PL, 94-142 Education for all Handicapped Children Act which was reauthorized to Individuals with Disabilities Education (IDEA) Act 2004 and now Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA) During the Institute, participants will explore the role of the teacher, paraprofessional and parent in the supporting the special needs student. They will also work together to create support plans to enhance instruction for all students, collaborate with colleagues around monitoring student progress and share best practices for running an organized learning environment. Topics include: The 13 IEP Classifications, Continuum of Special Education Service, Least Restrictive Environment, Response to Intervention (RTI), Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Specially Designed Instruction (SDI), Autism overview, the Service delivery models and continuum of services that are aligned to “A Shared Path to Success”, the “Framework for Great Schools”, and Supporting Positive Behavior.

Description: Please note that the days for this Institute are: July 16-19, 2018. Attendance to all 4 sessions for the entire day is mandatory.
In this 4 day Paraprofessional Institute participants will be introduced to the special needs learner through a variety videos, case studies and group activities. Paraprofessionals will also participate in meaningful discussions pertaining to Special Education Laws. They will be also introduced to the 13 Classifications of Disabilities. Paraprofessionals will learn about Response to Intervention(RTI), Universal Design for Learning(UDL), Specially Designed Instruction(SDI), Functional Behavior Assessment(FBA), Behavior Implementation
Plan(BIP), Least Restrictive Environment (LRE), the Service delivery models and continuum of services that are aligned to “A Shared Path to Success” and the "Framework for Great Schools”.

Paraprofessionals will also engage in developing a support plan for SWD, learning to implement a quality IEP, and
identifying effective IEP features. Paraprofessionals will also gain knowledge around their roles and responsibilities in a Special Education class.
