Jennifer Carreon Ambert - Director of Teaching and Learning

As Director for Teaching and Learning at Queens South Field Support Center (FSC), Ambert oversees a team of instructional leads, academic policy, assessment, performance and Advance specialists, who support schools across Queens South.  Prior to this role, Ambert served as Director of New Principal Support (NPS) within the NYCDOE’s Office of Leadership, supporting a team of full-time NPS Coaches, Master Principals and Coaching Fellows, who coach approximately 150 new principals annually.  From 2008 to 2016, Ambert served as Principal of P.S./I.S. 178, The Holliswood School. Under Ambert's leadership, PS/IS 178Q became a five-time NYSED Reward School and four-time CSA Performance Award School.  Ambert possesses a B.A. in English, an M.S.Ed in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, and an M.S.Ed in Educational Leadership.  She is also a graduate of the New York City Leadership Academy and the Cahn Fellows Program for Distinguished Principals at Teacher’s College. A proud product of NYC public schools, Ambert has served as a successful teacher, a former Assistant Principal, a CSA Executive Board Member, a mentor principal, a Cahn Fellows Program Advisor and both of her children have attended NYC public schools.


The Teaching and Learning Division consists of three teams: The Academic Policy, Performance, and Assessment Team, The Advance Team,
